Q70,Paper 3,J13 Given two jugs of capacities 5 litres and 3 litres with no measuring markers on them. Assume that there is endless supply of water. Then the minimum number of states to measure 4 litres water will be

State 0. both jug are empty  represented as 5Ljug(0),3L jug(0).
Operation. Fill the 5L jug with tap water.
State 1.      5L jug(5), 3Ljug(0).
Operation- Invert  5L jug water to 3Ljug water. Remaining water in 5L jug is 2L.
State 2.      5Ljug(2),3L jug(3).
Operation.   Split 3L Jug water to ground.
State 3.       5L jug (2).3Ljug(0).
Operation. Transfer 2L water form 5L jug to 3L jug.
State 4.    5LJug(0),3L jug(2).
Operation-fill the 5L jug with tap water.
State 5.- 5L jug(5),3Ljug(2).
Operation – fill the remaining one liter of 3L jug from 5L jug.
State 6.-5Ljug(4),3Ljug(3)..Successful.
Total number of states 7.
