Q52,paper3 ,D13. Serial access memories are useful in applications where

(A) Data consists of numbers
(B) Short access time is required
(C) Each stored word is processed differently.
(D) None of these

Answer D.
sequential access memory is accessed sequentially where as RAM searches randomly. While sequential access memory is reads in sequence, accesses can still be made to arbitrary locations by seeking to the requested location. This operation, however, is often relatively inefficient  lacking seek time , rotational latency . These are used in magnetic tapes,CD ROM and secondary storage devices.
